Free Subscription
You are free to create and post a profile, browse matching profiles,
search profiles, flirt via conversation starters, send introductions
and reply to introductions from subscribers. If someone you are interested
in has indicated interest in return and neither of you are subscribers
only one of you must subscribe to move beyond conversation starters
and begin the exchange of personal, customized messages. This is an
excellent setup for a free dating service.
Your home page is where you can find out about new matches that have
occurred since you last signed on. You can also find out who's online
at the moment, change your permissions settings, learn about new features
and services offered by Romantic Planet, and receive tips on how to
improve your Profile or your Matches.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Your Profile
When you join Romantic Planet, the answers you provide in the questionnaire
are put together to form your Profile. You can view and edit your
Profile by clicking on the My Profile button in the top menu bar.
Your Profile is divided into two major parts: your information and
your Photo Album, which may contain up to four photographs.
The information part of your Profile is divided into several groups,
based on the types of information displayed. Because some of this
information may be considered more private and sensitive, you can
control who may view your Profile information by setting your Permissions.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Instant Messenger
To initiate a talk with someone, click on the icon that appears next
to their name. If there's no icon, they're not signed on at the moment.
If you do not wish to talk with someone, simply remove them. You can
always add them back later. You can only chat with established connections.
In order to add someone new to your PlanetTalk list, you must first
send an introduction to someone and get a "yes" response
in return. You can use PlanetTalk even when you're signed off of Romantic
Planet. Just leave your PlanetTalk window open.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Who's Online
In Prospects, a little computer icon next to a member's name indicates
that he or she is currently online. If you send them an introduction
or contact them, they will instantly be alerted that they have mail.
From your Home Page, you can also click on the Who's Online icon to
see who is using Romantic Planet at that moment.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Photo Album
As a member of Romantic Planet, you have complete control over who
may or may not view the contents of your Album. To limit access to
your Album, set your Permissions on this screen or in Romantic Planet's
Permissions area.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Permissions
As a member of Romantic Planet, you may choose to make your Profile
and Photo Album available only to certain groups or individuals.
If members do not have permission to view your profile, they will
not be able to contact you. Members automatically receive permission
once you contact them. If someone does not have permission to view
your photo album, then you can grant permission for that person to
be able to view your photo album. Four different levels of Permissions
are available.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Prospects
The Prospects section of Romantic Planet is where you go to view and
organize your Matches. In addition to your Matches list, there are
four other lists for organizing Prospects: Possibilities, Introductions,
Connections and Not Interested. By default, all of your lists are
sorted by Matchmind compatibility scores. However, you may also choose
to sort them by age or distance from you. Clicking on Match Requirements,
in the sidebar, allows you to set the qualities other members must
have for you to consider them Matches. Find Member allows you to Locate
a specific member by the ProfileName, while the Search feature helps
you browse through all Romantic Planet members who fit criteria you
select.

Planet Dating Service - MatchMind
Matchmind is Romantic Planet's revolutionary compatibility scoring
system. MatchMind is always working to improve the quality of your
Matches. Whenever you make a selection by writing to someone, MatchMind
notes the qualities of that person. This means that over time, MatchMind
can help you focus on the qualities that are important to you. MatchMind
does not decide whether or not someone matches you. Only your match
requirements can eliminate people from matching you. All that MatchMind
does is calculate a score between you and your matches.
Making Selections
Whenever you choose to introduce yourself to someone, or agree to
correspond with them, this is considered a "selection."
MatchMind keeps track of your selections to determine which qualities
you tend to favor. It then uses this information to give you more
accurate compatibility scores in the future. MatchMind also pays attention
when you indicate that you are not interested in someone, and uses
this information to improve the accuracy of your compatibility scoring.
MatchMind Statistics
Each time you write to one of your Matches, MatchMind observes your
choice and generates statistics about the types of users you are attracted
to. Over time, these statistics help MatchMind to bring you better,
more accurate Matches.
Updating Your Compatibility Scores
Each time you write to someone, or indicate you're not interested
in someone, MatchMind observes this and gathers statistical information
about what qualities are attractive to you. With each observation,
MatchMind is able to give you better, more accurate compatibility
scores. If, for example, MatchMind learns that you are consistently
writing to users with dogs, anyone in your Matches list who has a
dog will receive a slight boost in their score, which will move those
users up your list.
What makes MatchMind Unique
Most dating services find you matches by comparing your answers to
a list of questions with other people's answers to the same questions.
Basically, if you have blue eyes and they have blue eyes that's worth
a point. Do you really want to be matched based on things like eye
color?
Unlike MatchMind, these dating services don't have any intelligent
way to learn about you, or to discover what qualities you're really
looking for in a match. MatchMind begins with the information provided
by you in your profile and match requirements. It then supplements
this with information it gathers by observing the choices you make
while using Romantic Planet. The longer you use this dating service,
the more MatchMind is able to fine-tune your match scores.
MatchMind's Artificial Intelligence
MatchMind learns about you over time, by observing whom you contact.
MatchMind then uses what it learns to determine what qualities would
be found in your ideal match. Each time you view your matches, you
benefit from MatchMind's observations. For example, if you frequently
select and write to nonsmokers, MatchMind observes
this, and scores all of the nonsmokers a little higher. If instead
you are mostly writing to smokers, all of the smokers will receive
slight boosts in their scores. With each person you contact, MatchMind
makes hundreds of observations and adjustments that will affect the
scores of each and every match in your Prospects, not to mention matches
that you may have in the future.

The MatchMind score is much more than just a percentage of how well
your profile matches someone else's. Your MatchMind scores are based
on observations of your choices, as well as the choices made by all
of your matches. Any time you or one of your matches uses this dating
service, your scores are adjusted to reflect new information MatchMind
gathers. In fact, from the moment you fill out your profile, you're
benefiting from MatchMind's artificial intelligence. Just as MatchMind
helps you find your ideal match, it's also helping everyone else find

Matches List
To view your Matches, click on the Prospects button in the top menu.
Your Matches are ranked based on compatibility as determined by MatchMind,
Romantic Planet's unique compatibility scoring system, which places
the most compatible matches at the top of your list. Romantic Planet
also allows you to only view the new Matches that you previously viewed,
or to only view users with photo Albums by checking the appropriate
boxes at the top of the list.
New Match Notification
You can automatically be notified by e-mail when you have new Matches.
Initially, Romantic Planet is set to send you a notification once
each week if it finds new matches. You can change the frequency of
notification, or to turn off this feature altogether.
Search All Members
While your Prospects are limited to users who meet your Match Requirements,
searching allows you to find Romantic Planet users who fit your search
criteria. Select specifics such as religion, education and interests,
and make your search as broad or as narrow as you like. You may also
search only for users with Albums, or users who live in a specific
country, state or city.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Postcards
The first time you introduce yourself to a member, you will be asked
to chose a postcard from a selection of images. If you don't see one
you like, you can view more sample images, browse a specific category,
or select NO IMAGE. When you e-mail your introductory message to your
prospect, your selected postcard image appears in your e-mail.
When your Prospects begin writing back to you, you can correspond
directly through e-mail, or go to their Profiles and select the Send
Postcard option from the option bar to send them more electronic postcards.
Romantic Planet Dating Service - Community Center
The Community Center provides a great opportunity for you to get to
know other members in the Romantic Planet Community. As a participant
in the center, you can follow discussions on a variety of topics,
and post your own thoughts for others to read. You can also start
your own group to discuss a topic that interests you.
Groups
The Romantic Planet Community Center provides a forum for members
to share information about topics that interest them. The Community
Center is made up of several communities, and within each community
is one or more discussion groups. Groups can be formed to talk about
any subject. Romantic Planet participants can read and respond to
messages posted in groups, and their responses are then posted for
others to read.
Posting To A Group
Community Center groups are a great way to get to know the other
members in your Romantic Planet community. If you wish to participate
in a discussion group, you can either join one where a discussion
is already in progress, or you can create one with a discussion topic
