DateCam offers members the ability to broadcast and view high-quality, live
video streams without having to download any proprietary .exe's or applets.Date
Cam.com is the the web's premier video dating and community site. Not only
do they offer the same features as other dating sites, they go a step further with live video and
webcam chat.
How do I set my search criteria?
There are 3 distinct ways of searching on datecam
1. Matches: Your primary search criteria are stored HERE.
2. Simple Search: searches by sex, geography and age.
3. Advanced Search: Much more robust than Simple Search,
the Advanced
Search returns granular results.
What is DateMail?
DateMail is the www.datecam.com email messaging system. It
allows members to create, send, and read correspondence throughout
the site. DateMail organizes your correspondance in an easy
to manage set of tools. By default the system sends you an
email
receipt if you have received DateMail from another member, but your real email
address is never given out to any members. Sending and receiving DateMail
is a premium service.
Can I "ignore" a member who is sending me DateMail?
The option to ignore a member
who is sending you DateMail is in the ignorelist tab of your DateMail. Members
on your ignore list cannot send you DateMail, nor can they join you in your
personal channel. To take someone off your ignore list select "remove" from
your options menu.
Why are some members names in orange, and other member names are
in gray?
If a member is highlighted in the chat list in orange, it indicates they are
broadcasting a live stream. Members in gray are chatting, but not broadcasting
video.
How do I see a members video stream?
To see a datecam members video stream in the video stream window, simply click
once on their orange highlighted name. If you select a member highlighted in
gray
(and there for not broadcasting video) the chat will load a still picture of
them in the video chat window.
Can other members see my video stream?
Datecam members can see your video stream if:
1. You have a webcam properly installed on your computer
2. Your Broadcast Control is in the ON position.
3. They have Flash MX plugin properly installed on their computer.
How come I only see a still image of a member?
If you have clicked on a members screen name, and that member is not
broadcasting live, the chat displays a still image of that member.
How do I stop broadcasting my stream?
Simply click "Begin Broadcast" or "End Broadcast" from
the Settings menu above your video stream to start or stop your video broadcast.
What kind of webcam do I need for Datecam.com?
Any standard webcam will work on for PC users. Some Mac users report spotty
success using webcams on the FlashComm system. CritterCam works the best for
Mac users.
How do I find out if someone I am interested in is broadcasting video?
On every Member Profile page, a status indicator lets you know who is online
chatting and/or broadcasting video.
How do I invite a friend?
Simply use the Invite A Friend tool located in your Profile Home page.
What are Channels?
A datecam channel is a chatroom for live chat. Each member has their own channel.
To invite members to join your channel for live chat, simply add them to your
contact list. This will allow them to join your channel the next time you are
online. To see a list of members who are chatting live, go to "Live Chat" and
select See all currently active public channels .
To join a member in their room, simply choose "Request a Chat" from
their profile page. When the member adds you to their Contact List, you will
be notified via
DateMail, and a link to their channel will appear in the LiveChat section the
next time they are chatting live.
What is the difference between a channel set to "public" and
a channel
set to "private"?
Your personal datecam.com channel has privacy settings.
One setting is "public", the other setting is "private".
If your channel is set to "public" any member who is not on your
ignore list may
join you in chat when you are online.
If your channel is set to "private" only members in your contact
list may join you
in chat when you are online. You may toggle between these two settings at any
time.
Can I kick people out of my personal datecam.com channel?
When you are in your private channel, you are the "operator". This
means you
have the ability to "kick" members out of your channel should the
need arise. To
kick a member out of your channel, highlight their screenname, select "actions",
and choose "kick" from the expanded menu. The "ignore" feature
is also available
should you choose to simply ignore them. Please remain in your channel for
the duration of your chat. System alerts will be delivered to you in the chat,
so
there is no need to leave. If you care to check your DateMail while you are
in
your personal chat channel, simply open DateMail in a new window.
Are my video streams archived?
Live video streams are not stored/archived.
